April 17th, 2009 by Jonathan
- Sweet potato. Diced.
- Tomato. sliced
- Bagoong (referred to as fish sauce, pour enough amount according to taste)
- Moringa fruit peeled
- Skinned Lima beans
- Alucon (Bungon in Ilocano Term)
- Squash Flower with its stem skinned
- Yam Beans (mildly crushed so the aroma and sweetness will come out)
- Eggplant
- Grilled Milk Fish (other fish can be an alternative and it can be fried instead of grilled. I prefer Grilled beacuse of the scent and taste.)

Buridibud Mix. Cooking by mixing vegetables in a pot.
Making a Buridibud vegetable soup by Ilocanos is easy! All you need are fresh vegetables and just follow this Buridibud recipe for making this type of Dinengdeng.
- Boil half litre of water in a cauldron.
- Add in the bagoong (shrimp paste).
- Put in the sweet potato. Boil until the sweet potatoes are cooked. This Buridibud is best served if the sweet potato is a bit overcooked. (It is said that this vegetable soup is called buridibud because of the overcooked sweet potato. Its the most sensible reason i researched as to origins of the name Buridibud.)
- Put in the tomato. Boil until cooked.
- Mix in the rest of the vegetables into the boiling pot; Moringa, lima beans, yam beans and himbabau.
- Add the Eggplant and Grilled Milk Fish (Bangus). Boil until the eggplant is cooked.
- Place the Squash flower on top. Cover it. Wait 5 minutes and you have a Buridibud vegetable soup ready to serve.

Lima beans and moringa fruit are important ingredients of Buridibud Dinengdeng.
Philipine Food Fact:
Many Asians use the leaves of Moringa like spinach and also the fruit it produces as a vegetable, like asparagus. Both the leaves and the fruits of the Moringa are very nutritious, full of Vitamin C and other minerals.
