Tried it for the first time last month with bottles of cold San Miguel Beer. The taste was superb! It enters the mouth like an oyster, smooth and easy, with the same consistency as soft squid. The best part, however, is the end note, which is a combination of something between grilled beef and baked oyster. We used a local vinegar dip with some chili, which made for a long night of story-telling. You should try it!

hi there everyone…in Bangka Island, Indonesia we call it TEMILOK, people here have the samae way with Palawanese about how to eat the shellfish. Temilok (bactronophorus sp) was my BSc Research (2003), I add fresh TEMILOK with 10% salt and let it anaerobic fermented for 20 days, it becomes more delicious, you can try it guys…my email : bunkdenn2000@yahoo.co.uk

to jane>> you dont need to worry, tamilok will just live to the dead trunks of that particular tree of “bakawan”… puerto princesa is very known for being environmental conscious, for sure nothing will escape the eyes of hose NGO/ environmentalist if getting the tamilok will ruin the endangered tress…

It was interesting to learn things about Palawan’s famous delicacy, but I am alarmed on where tamilok comes from. The fact that the locals harvest this mollusk by splitting the endangered healthy trees’s roots or trunks is not environmentally friendly.I hope Iam wrong on this one as many people enjoy this delicasy.
